Unpaid Care Work by Women in the Informal Economy

ZCIEA National Women's speaks on the issue of unpaid care by women in the informal economy in an interview at ZCIEA National Office, 13 September 2019. More women now earn a living in the informal economy which is a survivalist in nature and less likely to contribute to social security, and on the other hand care-giving functions in both the rural and the urban settings.

Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associations (ZCIEA) Chipinge Territorial Acting President Dennis Maluwa who is also a youth member joined ZCIEA 5 years ago and has been an active member since then. He benefited from ZCIEA in many ways through training which helped him to be a strong young man who can work on his own and become influential in the community where comes from.

Press Statement on The Informal Economy Matters

The following associations, representing workers in the informal economy throughout Zimbabwe, have formed an alliance under the theme “The Informal Economy Matters”. Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associations (ZCIEA) Bulawayo Vendors’ and Traders’ Associations (BVTA) Women Alliance of Business Associations of Zimbabwe (WABAZ) Zimbabwe Cross Border Traders’ Association (ZCBTA) The objective of the alliance is to obtain recognition of and respect for the informal economy as a key component of Zimbabwe’s national economy and to promote the rights of workers in the informal economy.

ZCIEA Sets up a new Territory in Zhombe

On the 21st of June 2019 Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associations “ZCIEA” sets up a new territory in Zhombe. Zhombe is a rural communal area between Gokwe and Kwekwe District, Midlands province in Zimbabwe. The program was conducted by ZCIEA 2nd Vice National President Stella Chivandikwa, Treasurer General Givas Maririmba with the assistance of the information officer Fungai Munetsi.

ZCIEA Sets up a Territory in Inyanga, Manicaland

On the 19th of June 2019 Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associations “ZCIEA” sets up a new territory in Inyanga. The program was conducted by the 2nd Vice National president Stella Chivandikwa, 1 st Vice National Secretary General Sibongile Chakabva, Mutare Territorial president Mrs. Gonese with the assistance of the information officer Fungai Munetsi.
