Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associations (ZCIEA) in partnership with the @Ambassade de France au Zimbabwe conducted Life Beyond COVID-19 effects awareness training for its members (Informal workers and traders) in Chimanimani on the 8th of October 2021.
The objective of this awareness-raising was to equip informal economy trading and working members in 10 ZCIEA territories with innovative entrepreneurship and working methods that sustain their living beyond the effects of COVID-19.
A total of 50 members (39 women, 11 men,2 PWD, and 6 youths) were equipped with innovative skills to sustain their lives beyond COVID-19 effects. Issues raised were loss of education, poor working spaces, early marriages, domestic violence, lack of capital, and lack of market linkages. In response to these challenges, members suggested that more awareness-raising campaigns should be conducted so that members can learn about how to manage their businesses, how to raise capital, and also how to resolve issues of domestic violence. Furthermore, they commented that market linkages were key for them to sustain the businesses.
